As part of the A Million Voices project, this second painting workshop hosted on December 12th, 2025 was designed to encourage participants to reflect on national identity while exploring values of inclusion, equality, and respect.

After a brief introduction to the workshop’s objectives, participants were guided through the creative process and invited to approach the activity with openness and curiosity.

Each participant selected one symbol representing their country and one symbol connected to inclusive values, using art as a medium for personal expression.

From Expectations to Experience

Many participants arrived expecting a relaxed and enjoyable painting session, an opportunity to be creative and share something about their background.

While the atmosphere remained light and welcoming, the activity spawned conversations on cultural pride, diversity, and what inclusion means in everyday life.

Symbols of Resilience and Connection

One of the most impactful moments of the workshop came during the presentation of the artworks, particularly from the Ukrainian team. As they shared the meaning behind their paintings, they also reflected on resilience, solidarity, and the strength of community in difficult times.

Their canvases featured traditional imagery and powerful symbols representing unity, resistance, and hope, connecting cultural identity with lived experience.

These presentations deeply moved the group and created a strong sense of empathy and understanding. They reminded everyone that national symbols are reflections of real lives, experiences, and emotions.

Art as a Space for Dialogue and Reflection

Throughout the workshop, art served as a starting point for meaningful dialogue.

Discussing the symbols and choices behind each painting encouraged participants to listen to one another and reflect on different perspectives.

The creative process allowed complex topics to be explored in an accessible and respectful way.
