On Sunday, December 14th, we hosted a cozy movie afternoon as part of our ongoing A Million Voices project, featuring the Ukrainian classic film "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors." The screening brought together 14 participants for an afternoon of cinema, conversation, and cultural exchange.

The smaller group size created an intimate atmosphere that allowed for deeper discussion and connection. The film was well received by all attendees, and we were especially grateful to welcome members of the Ukrainian community, who enriched the experience by sharing personal stories and perspectives.
A Conversation Beyond the Screen

One of the highlights of the event came after the credits rolled. Participants led an extended discussion inspired by the film, touching on geography, cultural traditions, customs, and language.
The conversation flowed from the film’s themes and visuals, turning the screening into a shared learning experience for all in attendance.
Looking Ahead

One important learning from this event was the value of having prepared discussion prompts ready after a screening. While this discussion emerged organically, having guiding questions on hand can help deepen reflection and ensure everyone feels encouraged to participate.
Overall, this was a well-received and rewarding event, and we’re excited to build on this momentum in future cultural programming.
"A Million Voices" aims to improve the mental health and social integration of Ukrainian refugees in the EU through innovative art and narrative therapy. Learn more about this project and it's latest events via our project page:
