Fight Against Love Scam

The Fight Against Love Scam Project is dedicated to protecting and empowering people aged 50 and above against fraudulent online romance scams. It addresses the issue from multiple angles, combining digital readiness, media literacy, mental health, and active ageing. By providing knowledge about the tactics, platforms, and psychological manipulations used by scammers, the project equips seniors with the skills they need to recognize threats and stay safe online.
At the same time, it supports educators through a dedicated handbook, enabling them to guide older learners with confidence and sensitivity. Beyond practical training, the project seeks to break the silence around the vulnerabilities many seniors face, such as loneliness or embarrassment, and to create an open, supportive environment for discussion.
Through online courses, guidebooks, and tailored resources, the Love Scam Project makes learning accessible for seniors with different levels of digital comfort. Its overall goal is to raise awareness, build resilience, and strengthen the connection between seniors, educators, and their wider communities, ensuring that fewer people fall victim to love scams and feel more empowered to navigate the digital world safely.

Project Activities
The Love Scam Project combines international meetings, educational resources, and practical training to protect seniors from online romance fraud. Activities include three transnational meetings in Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands, where partners will exchange knowledge and run workshops with experts. Based on these, the partners will develop a comprehensive guidebook for adult educators, followed by an engaging online video course designed for seniors. The project concludes with a large public event to present results, share best practices, and raise awareness in local communities.

We hope the online video course and the handbook will be used not only by the elderly and the adult educators, but also from the families, other sanitary workers, such as psychologists and a wider audience, in order to be able not only to help give self-protection to the project's target group, but also to other people, so the online world will become a safer place for people of all age.
